Workshop Pics!

I went to a photography workshop in Grand Rapids this weekend. I learned so much and had a chance to talk to the instructors in detail about photography and running a business. I loved these girls and I WANT TO BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER! These pictures are all out of order, but here are the highlights:

This is Haylee. She was one of the models bought into the workshop so we could try everything we learned. This photo shows stop motion, meaning that her face is in focus, but her hands are not, because they are moving.

Another assignment was composition. I like photos that are not straight, or head on.

This is my FAVORITE picture from the whole workshop. I did not do any color correction on this one!

This is an example of depth of field. Haylee is in focus, but the woman looking at her camera is not.

Haylee had amazing eyes. Not green. Not blue. Almost grey.

And this is my new favorite photographer, Amy. She is demonstrating the stop-motion technique for us here. Thank you, Amy, for an AMAZING workshop!

This was our other model, Jennifer. I didn't get the best shots of her, but I liked this one because her hair is glowing from the lighting behind her.

New Gadget

I was a little skeptical of my new gadget for my camera, after everyone told me it wouldn't work, but guess what, it did! I think the flash diffuser makes the pictures look a little softer! (Notice the shadow from the book on Teague's face. Using just the regular flash would have made a harsh lined-shadow.)

Natural light . . . I actually used the manual setting on my camera.

Jonathan

I took some pictures of Jonathan last night. His dad is in grad school at WMU and both of his parents are from Madagascar. His dad speaks to him in the native language of Madagascar and his mother speaks to him in French. Just on those facts alone, this will be one smart babe.

Backdrop

I bought a new backdrop yesterday and I wanted to test it out. Teague wasn't too excited about being my test subject. He can't nap past 4:00 in the afternoon, otherwise he will never go down for bed. So Randy actually had to wake him up from his nap. In his sleepy state, I thought I could take pictures. Wrong. I get so revved up to do something and I completely forget to take into account a sleepy baby! The only way that I could get him to sit in front of the backdrop was if Randy would sit with him.

Playing in the Snow

Finally, on Sunday we had a warm spell. And by warm spell, I mean above 10 degrees. We took Teague outside to make a snowman. Overnight, the temp went up to 48; now our snowman is skinny.
