bedtime saga part I

Out of the blue { where does "out of the blue" come from? Where or what is blue? And why does something happen to it suddenly? }.

On Friday 11/14, I heard a noise at 1:00 am that woke me up. I slapped Randy on the head and asked "Did you hear that?". With our ears wide open, we heard our bedroom door open. "Was that our door?" Randy stood up and who was at his feet? Teague!

"I want to sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed."

And so began our bedtime saga. Teague had never gotten out of bed before. He had never opened his bedroom door before. He had never left his room before. But now we have to deal with it.

We aren't quite sure how to handle it, but lack of sleep doesn't help us make a decision about how to approach our night owl.

For now, you can refer to us as the "unrested otts".

bedtime saga part II

We had a genius idea. We told Teague he could stay in our bed, but NO pacifier was allowed. If he wanted a pacifier, he had to sleep in his own bed.

It worked! He started the night in our bed, but by 11:00 he hadn't fallen asleep and wanted his pacifier to do the trick. So he ASKED to go back into his own room. H.E.A.V.E.N.L.Y.

Total time spent in our bed = 3 hours

bedtime saga part III

Progress. He fell asleep in his own bed without getting out once! He would have slept all night - if he hadn't had a coughing fit to wake him up.

There's nothing like a cold to derail ALL of your efforts!

Total time spent in our bed = 2.5 minutes!

self portrait

Maybe this is a reflection of all of my personalities. Or are we only suppose to have one?
How can I say this?

election party

Tricia invited us over for an election party. I couldn't watch the election because there were so many kids there! Of course I took my camera. Wouldn't you like a picture of yourself on a historic night? These kids can look back and say look how little I was on the day Obama was elected President.

halloween party

I took pictures at daycare for their halloween party. Here's the story:

Jamison was a chicken.

Atryu was a dinosaur. We played Ring-Around-the-Rosie. Teague and I taught them the second verse:
The cows are in the meadows
eating buttercups
ashes, ashes we all stand up!
I love seeing them hold hands.

Bradley was a Darth Vader.

This was the best I could do with 7 kids.

Approximately one second later.Alexis was a fairy.
Jennifer thinks of everything. Her house was decorated so nicely for the party.
Noah, the mighty lion, conked out before the party started.
Katie was a princess.
Phoebe was a fairy.
And of course, I'm a forgetful mom, so I didn't bring his fireman custom. So Jennifer improvised and we made him a hunter. Pretty cleaver, huh? He wasn't happy that I was taking pictures and not playing with him.

boo zoo

the train broken down when we were at the boo zoo in battle creek. this was teague's reaction. pretty much the only reason why we went.

it got fixed eventually and we got on it in the end.
